Dr. Muhammad Shakeel is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Computing at the University of Biological and Applied Sciences (UBAS), Lahore, with more than 20 years of teaching experience in computing and computer science. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a research focus on Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing, as well as master’s degrees in Computing and Information and Operational Management, and was an AusAID Scholarship Awardee for his Master of Computing at the Australian National University, Australia. His research interests include Natural Language Processing, Generative AI, Large Language Models, Information Retrieval, and multilingual low-resource NLP, with publications in leading academic journals. He has held academic leadership and industry technical leadership roles, including Head of the Computer Science Department, and AI Solutions Architect, where he led the development of healthcare applications, including multilingual AI voice customer support and pharmacy management solutions, as well as AI-driven and agentic applications. His work combines teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, applied AI, software innovation, and research.
