Degree Overview
The Faculty of Computing at Lahore University of Biological and Applied Sciences (UBAS) is dedicated to developing skilled, purpose-driven computer scientists who are equipped to solve real-world problems, particularly at the intersection of computing and human health.
Computer Science is the systematic study of computation, algorithms, data, and software systems. It provides the intellectual and technical foundation for virtually every technological advance of our era, ranging from hospital information systems and electronic health records to medical device software, mobile health applications, and AI-powered diagnostic tools. At UBAS, this foundation is enriched by the university’s deep-rooted expertise in biological and health sciences, giving our computing graduates a rare interdisciplinary perspective that employers in healthcare technology, pharma informatics, and digital health actively seek.
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) at UBAS is a four-year, eight-semester undergraduate program aligned with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan’s curriculum framework. The program equips students with rigorous theoretical grounding and extensive hands-on experience across core computing disciplines including programming, algorithms, data structures, operating systems, computer networks, database systems, software engineering, and artificial intelligence.
What sets UBAS BSCS apart is its environment. Students study and build technology within a university that includes faculties of pharmacy, health sciences, rehabilitation, and biological sciences. This means our capstone projects, elective tracks, and research opportunities naturally gravitate toward healthcare, from designing pharmacy management systems and patient data platforms to building software solutions for clinical research and telemedicine. Students are not just learning to code, they are learning to build technology that saves lives and improves health outcomes.
Graduates of the UBAS BSCS program will be fully prepared to enter industry as software engineers, systems analysts, and technology professionals, or to pursue advanced studies in computing and related disciplines both in Pakistan and abroad.
