Why Spring Admissions are Beneficial?

Have you made your academic goals, and the Fall admissions did not align with your unique timeline? There is no need to worry about it, because only public universities in Pakistan open their admissions annually. Many private universities in the country offer Fall and Spring admissions for students like you. However, many are stuck in confusion about whether they should opt for Spring or wait for fall admissions next year. Lahore-UBAS is one of the top private universities in Pakistan for Biological and Applied Sciences in Lahore also accepts applications twice a year. In this blog, we will discuss why Spring admissions are beneficial.

What is the Difference Between Fall & Spring Admissions?

Let’s start with a difference between Fall and Spring admissions. Typically, the Fall admissions start in August or September. From this time, a regular academic year starts in Pakistan. It is the main admission cycle for students who are already in the academic journey. Therefore, this admission cycle has a huge competition. At the same time, admission opportunities are available at public and private universities. Hence, the fall admissions are considered the ‘main cycle’ for the academic year.

Though it is a popular cycle, it comes with that energetic, competitive vibe. However, it does not mean that it suits everyone who is looking forward to continuing education and having diverse circumstances, with a typical student in their academic journey. For these students,  private universities in Pakistan open Spring admissions every year.

Spring admissions start in late October or November to start the academic session by January or February. In spring admissions, there is less competition and more chances to get enrolled in your desired degree programme. Moreover, the spring session brings a calm and peaceful vibe for the students to study. It is ideal for students who have different circumstances, like they are on a job or they are taking a gap between their education, or they are transferring between institutions.

Benefits of Springs Admissions You can get.

Benefits of Choosing Spring Admissions in Lahore

In the following, we will try to list and briefly explain the benefits of enrolling in the spring intake. You can have all of these, or some of these, as per your circumstances.

Brighten Up Your Chances to Enrol in the Desired Degree Programme

Since we are doing Fall Vs. Spring admissions, let’s start with the most alluring advantage you can have after enrolling in spring admissions. In fall admissions, there is a huge number of applications, and many programmes with higher preference often run out of seats.

Naturally, many students who are aiming to get enrolled in any specific programme, in case they are left without any adjustment in fall admissions, can try for spring admissions. Applying to spring admissions will not only safeguard your academic year, but also will keep you optimistic and stress-free by enhancing the success rate to land in any specific degree programme.

If they miss the spring admissions this year, the students will have to wait till the next fall admissions. Which will be opening in the proceeding year. Hence, waiting for enrollment in any degree programme till the next academic year would be tiresome for many.

Ideal for FSc. & A-Level Students

If you are a student who has completed their FSc. or A-Levels, and you have taken a gap for any reason. Now, if you are interested in continuing your education, in case you have missed the fall intake this year, then there is no need to wait for the next fall admission. Spring admissions are a golden chance for you to apply without creating any gap in your academic journey.

Great Option For Professionals

Furthermore, if you have already earned your bachelor’s degree or master’s degree, and you are keen to upgrade your education. In this case, even if you have missed the deadline for this year’s fall admissions. There is no need to sit idle till next year. You can pursue your education by completing your application in spring admissions.

Moreover, there is a diverse range of benefits in spring intake as well. Just like Lahore-UBAS offers scholarships for both undergrad and postgraduate programmes. In many universities, the evening or weekend classes are also scheduled for professionals like you to balance your time between job and education simultaneously.

More Personalised University Experience

If you are someone who learns and performs better with more personalised attention from mentors. Then you should opt for the spring admissions in your desired degree programmes. No doubt, highly qualified faculty and experienced mentors also have the skill to manage the large number of students. Still, individual attention is far better with fewer students. That’s why spring admissions are far more aligned with positive student learning outcomes.

How to Prepare for the Intermediate Supplementary Exam?

Intermediate classes are also known as classes 11th and 12th, respectively. The relevant educational boards of Pakistan conduct the (annual) final examination for these academically decisive years and call it the Higher Secondary School Certificate. These examinations are conducted separately for intermediate part I and part II.  Just like any other examination, some of the students also fail to pass these annual examinations. Hence, they have to reappear in the intermediate supplementary exam. Lahore-UBAS aims to help you prepare so that you pass the annual examination with good grades and take admission in your targeted undergraduate programme.

Intermediate Supplementary Exam

The Intermediate Supplementary Exam in Lahore has started for 2025. These are also known as the second annuals. In these exams, the students who have failed in two (2) or fewer papers have been called in ‘compartment. For this scenario, the student has to reappear in the subjects he has failed to pass.

In other cases, if a student fails in more than two (2) subjects. He or she is considered failed overall, and they will have to redo all the subject exams in the intermediate supplementary examination.

Intermediate Part I & II

If you have a supply or compart (also known as a compartment) in intermediate part I, then you will move up to intermediate part II and will attempt the supply subject in the intermediate supplementary exam for part I. Subsequently, you will sit in the intermediate part II annual examination that is regularly conducted for your session batch.

Some students also look to improve their marks; there is a whole separate policy for this. Please note that Pakistan has different boards of education across the country. In Punjab alone, we have 09 boards. Please consider the policies relevant to your educational board.

Prepare for Intermediate Supplementary Exams

In the following, we are going to share a proper plan you can apply to ace your intermediate supplementary exam. It’s your final chance to improve your score and safeguard your academic record. Hence, it is important to manage yourself and your efforts simultaneously. The major reason is that you will be sitting in the intermediate supplementary exam without your class fellows, and there is a thin chance that anyone will be there with you. In addition, the disappointment of not earning enough marks the first time is also with you.

However, it is not a beneficial option to leave heart and stay disappointed or feeling ashamed in one way or the other. Success and failure are a part of life and learning. Therefore. If you continue to learn your lessons, you can grow in life exceptionally.

  • Step 1: Analyse Your Previous Performance
  • Step 2: Identify your weaker Areas
  • Step 3: Be Specific & Set Daily Target
  • Step 4: Take Out Time for Major Revisions
  • Step 5: Attempt Past Papers
  • Step 6: Solve the Intermediate Exam Paper You Failed
  • Step 7: Practice on Paper Presentation
  • Let’s get into detail about how these steps will help you get good grades in intermediate supplementary exams. Before we start touching on what can help you, make sure to keep your physical health and mental state in check and balance. Don’t lose hope, and have faith in Allah Almighty, for success.

Analyse Your Previous Performance

Generally, the intermediate supplementary exam is conducted 40 days after the result announcement by the board of education responsible for Higher Secondary School Certification (HSSC). In between, the paper re-checks are also conducted.

However, if you are preparing for the intermediate supplementary exams, you will need to go through the question paper of the subjects you failed in. You will have the subjective part with you. For the objective part, you can ask your friends, batch mates and teachers and professors if they can help. In addition, you will also need to prepare the model papers and past papers.

Identify your weaker Areas

Going through the 1st annual paper will help you analyse your performance. It will also highlight the weak areas you have in those subjects. Write them down on paper. We have to target these weak points one by one. The time we have is short— just 40 days.

Be Specific & Set Daily Target

Now, you have written your weak areas, be very specific and make a regular daily-based target for the next time period of forty days. Try to clear your concepts of the topics that are marked important, are alien to you, and those that appear in the paper you failed. Give all these things, minimum time and maximum effort to cover as soon as possible.

Take Out Time for Major Revisions

Next on the checklist is to do major and frequent revisions. Paper preparation is incomplete without revisions and continuous corrections. Make sure that you cover the course for the maximum times in the time period you have to prepare for intermediate supplementary exams. This will sharpen your knowledge base and the ability to handle any sort of questions.

7 steps to prepare for intermediate supplementary exams

Attempt Past Papers

Once you complete your course revision for one time at least once, try to attempt past papers of the last five years. Don’t forget to include the question paper for the first annual, in which you appeared.

Solve the Intermediate Exam Paper You Failed

Solving the intermediate exam, you appeared multiple times. It will help you understand and get a strong grip on the questions they asked in it. Sometimes, some of the questions are also taken from the HSSC annual examination part I. However, there is just a possibility, and nothing is for sure.

Practice on Paper Presentation

Last but not least, try to improve your paper presentation. The more neater, readable, and easy on the eyes your paper is, the greater the chance that the examiner can understand your handwriting and can peacefully mark your attempts. Don’t miss this out if you are going to sit in the intermediate supplementary exam.

Last-minute Preparations are Also Important

Just like any examination, the intermediate supplementary exam is also an anxious time for the students. Get some last-minute help from one of the top academies in Lahore for MDCAT preparation. These tips will also help you.

Conclusion

If you did not earn enough marks in the intermediate annual examination, don’t lose hope. There is still a chance to improve your exam preparation for the intermediate supplementary exam. Go through these steps and some last-minute tips to ace the examination for the next academic goal.
